Aadhar-PAN Linking Date Extended to 31st December
NEW DELHI: A News has released on 1st September from Income Tax Department that Aadhar-PAN Linking Date is extended till 31st December means Tax payers have 4 month time period to Link Aadhar with PAN.
The income Tax department had earlier said that tax returns filed without linking of Aadhaar and PAN would not be taken up for processing unless the two were linked by August 31, 2017. Earlier Government has made it mandatory to link Aadhar with PAN for filling ITR till 31st August.
Section 139 AA (2) of the Income Tax Act says that every person having PAN as on July 1, 2017, and is eligible to obtain Aadhaar, must intimate his Aadhaar number to the tax authorities. UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey has also welcome the Supreme Court’s verdict on Wednesday.
Here also make one Note that 31st December is also Deadline to Link Aadhar Card with Bank Account. those categorized as non-resident Indians as per income tax laws, people who are not citizens of India, those above 80 years of age, and residents of Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu and Kashmir had been exempt from this requirement if they do not have Aadhaar or an Aadhaar enrolment ID. Earlier due to the effect of GST Government has extended the deadline of Filling ITR Return at Incometaxeffiling till 5th August. But after seeing Many People haven’t Linked their Aadhar Card with PAN Government has decided to extend the Linking Date to 31st December.
Now If you still Haven’t Link your Aadhar With PAN then Follow this simple steps to do so:
Link Aadhar Card with PAN Card at Income tax e-filing Portal
Keep Your Aadhar Card and PAN Card Number Ready.
Open Incometax effiling Portal -> https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/
If you are New User then Register using your PAN Number and Date of Birth first.
If you are an Existing User than Login Using User ID and Password. (Your User ID will be Your PAN Number)
After Login you will see a pop-up window will appear, prompting you to link your PAN card with Aadhaar card. If you have a pop-up blocker active, you will have to go on the “Profile Setting” on the dashboard’s menu bar to click on “Link Aadhar” option.
Now to Link Aadhar Card with PAN You have to Provide Information like Your Name as per your PAN and Aadhar card. Make sure that Your Name should be same in both PAN and Aadhar Card. If your Name is Different in Aadhar Card then First You need to Update your Aadhar Card at UIDAI then Link You Aadhar Card to PAN.
Enter your 12 Digit Aadhar Number, DOB, NAME and Captcha code for Verification. After filling all the details Click on “Link Aadhar” Button. Once your validation is successful, your Aadhaar will be successfully linked to your PAN.

Keep in mind, that once the Aadhaar-PAN linking is done, you can E-Verify your IT returns using Aadhaar if your mobile is registered with Aadhaar(By using OTP Method). By linking the two cards you will no longer have to submit your Income Tax acknowledgment to the IT department.
