Aadhaar Card Scams are always in news. This happens because people are not clear that how much only information we need to provide others.

Major frauds are bank loans, credit cards invalid transaction means all are monetary things most of the times. Make sure, UIDAI Aaadhaar card only has information like Name, Age, Gender, DOB, All 10-Finger Prints, 02-IRIS Scans & Facial Photograph. It has no information like Caste, Religion, Family, Qualification and Income.

Methods to Avoid – Frauds

If you follow the methods below then you can avoid this kinda scams easily;

  1. Lock your finger bio-metric
  2. Using Virtual ID
  3. Avoiding Fake Calls

1. Lock your finger Biometric

This is the best-advised method. In this, you need to use the Lock & Unlock function at the UIDAI website.

Nowadays people can even forge your fingerprints and use it for some false acts.

Let see how to do it step-wise;

  1. Go to UIDAI Official Website
  2. Hit on “Lock/Unlock Biometrics” Option
  3. Enter your Aadhaar Card Number (12-digits) and displayed the code below.
  4. Click on “Send OTP”
  5. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile, Enter it (Never disclose it to anyone)
  6. Now, you will get a confirmation message
  7. Next “ENABLE” to lock your Biometric details
  8. You are done here and will receive a confirmation SMS on your mobile.

If you don’t receive this confirmation message then alert UIDAI.

2. Using Virtual ID

In this, you’ll get an extra layer of security for Aadhaar Card.

This time you will create a 16-digit code that will serve as an Aadhaar number alternatively. You can generate this number through UIDAI Official website as many times as you like for free of charge.

Now, you need to give that 16-digit VID number where Aadhaar number is required. This number your aadhaar card number cannot be determined but through Aadhaar number, you can find all VID generated by.

It is always advisable to use this method wherever applicable.

3. Avoiding Fake Calls

You may receive fake calls asking you to tell them OTP that is just received on your mobile. For what! Actually, someone is trying to scam on you. Maybe he is linking your card to get a bank loan. many cases reported to UIDAI and people have lost their hard-earned money.

4. Aadhaar Limited Use

You have many cards like Pan, Ration, Driving License, Voter ID, etc. to prove your identity. Hence, try to use these cards like for trains, gym, flights and avoid disclosing your aadhaar number or provide VID only.
